Sweet Princess Breakfast Ideas PART 1

Food & Recipes door thijs

Today I want to share my favorite everyday breakfast ideas with you. These are made in seconds, but make you start your day with a smile. In PART 2 of this article I will share more unusual breakfast ideas, which take a bit more time, but are definitely worth the effort! But first, here are...

 The classics

Soothing Smoothie

My all-time favorite after morning workout smoothie is this one:

  • 1 banana
  • handful of frozen strawberries
  • 1 scoop whey protein (I use Pure Whey from Body en Fit shop)
  • cup of water

For a more fresh feel you can add a bit of quark.

Pancake Pleasure

There are a lot slightly different healthy pancake recipes. This one is my favorite, because I always have all the ingredients at home.

  • 2 eggs
  • 1 banana
  • 3 tablespoons of oatmeal
  • cinnamon
  • tiny bit of water if the batter is too thick
  • coconut flakes (optional)

Blend all the ingredients together in your blender, then cook the batter in coconut oil. I love to add dried cranberries before I pour the mixture in the pan. Or I throw in some frozen raspberries: they taste great when they are warm!
The pancake in the picture I pimped with some bio-all-fruit-no-additives-jelly, berries and coconut flakes.

Outrageous Oatmeal Bowl

This is a party. You can check Instagram for pretty oatmeal ideas, but this is my winner:

  • 200 grams of quark
  • 6 tablespoons of oatmeal
  • frozen berries or fresh fruits
  • half an apple
  • cacao nibs
  • flax seeds
  • 1,5 teaspoon of honey or stevia sweetener
  • cinnamon
  • optional: 1 scoop whey protein after a heavy workout. (I use Pure Whey from Body en Fit shop)

I always eat my oats cold and mixed with quark.
You can add nuts, dried fruits, coconut flakes, and/or chia seeds.

Tips and tricks

Invest in a good blender. This will save you so much time and frustration! I have a Nutribullet blender, which is the best. I use it for everything! For smoothies, all kinds of batter, grinding nuts, making soups and sauces. Easy to clean and you can bring your fresh, homemade smoothie with you wherever you go. Shop it here!

Frozen fruits are your friend. I always have at least 4 kinds of frozen berries in the freezer. And frozen chunks of banana. A lot of frozen fruits contain as much or more vitamins than fresh fruit. And berries are low in sugar, so you can never have too many of them ;).

Spice it up. Instead of using sugar or other sweeteners, try using spices to create a different taste. Options for sweet breakfast recipes: cinnamon, aniseed, cardamom, ginger and mixed cookie spices (check the ingredients to be sure it has no weird additives).

Looks are everything. Just kidding, that's of course not a Fit Girl thing to say ;). But when it comes to food, I want it to look damn good! I have a lot of cute plates, bowls and cups (in love with Pip stuff). But since I've been more into cooking, I also love buying grownups tableware. Big, fancy plates make me feel like a chef :D.

Treat yourself with kitchen tools! Sharp knives, a big cutting board and nice pans and are essential if you (want to) love cooking. If you don't have that much money, you could think of asking stuff for your birthday. I got my knives from a real good cook and thank her everyday for them! Great present :).

So kitchen princess, what are you going to make for yourself?
