It was Monday morning, the 4th of May, and I was sitting at a  window seat on my flight back from Bangkok to Amsterdam. As we flew over the northern part of India, I found myself staring at the window and couldn’t help but notice a tear rolling down my cheek. As I looked outside, I looked back at the person I was 4 weeks earlier…

Island girl
Hi, my name is Liberty Suares and I just finished my Yoga Teacher Training (YTT) in Koh Samui, Thailand. I’m an island girl from Curaçao and moved to Holland about 3.5 years ago to fulfil my dream to become an architect. Little did I know that I would find another passion along the way that would change my life completely.

Balanced lifestyle
I’m a 21 year old trying to live a healthy and balanced lifestyle. I was always active and in to sports back on the island, but lost this part of myself when I started my Bachelor at TU Delft. Moving away from home and living on my own came with lots of responsibilities. After a year of not making time for any active activities and eating like students do, I decided to change something. I got inspired by the healthy and fit community on Instagram, started eating healthier and went running a few times a week. I became addicted to the way I was feeling and started running more and more. There was a point where I would run about 4-5 times a week.

What a nice story! I practice hot yoga once a week and just recieved my jogha.com yoga mat at home…so I can practise more! Which yoga apps would you recomment?!

    Keep going with the inspiration!

Thank you Kirsten. Super! Love the funky pattern and super soft texture. I would recommend YogaStudio App. You can choose between 15/30/60 minute practice, beginner/intermediate/advanced and different type of practice, stretching/strengthening/balancing. Follow me on instagram for daily tips and inspiration 😀 xoxo

Love your story and the journey you made through yoga! Myself I discovered yoga a while ago and practising as much as I can at home and once a week in a yoga class. I’m curious: at what point you decided to do a yoga teacher training?

    • Liberty

Thanks Jorien! Great, just try to practice whenever you feel like it! Take your practice outside in the lovely sun and feel the energy.
I’ve been practicing yoga for almost 3 years now. The thing about a teacher training is that you don’t have to do it to become a teacher. It’s also a good way to deepen your own practice and learn the foundation of yoga. My teacher training gave me so much more than just the knowledge behind the yoga poses. I learned so much about everything… about yoga, life, myself. It was life changing for me and I would recommend it to anyone. Stepping out of your comfort zone, meeting new people, doing what excites you and really getting to know yourself.
There are a lot of different yoga teacher trainings. Some focus more on the yoga practice, some more on meditation and some more about becoming one with yourself. I was lucky enough that my training focused on all! xoxo

Oh wow, I see so much of myself in you. Student at TU Delft, living the unhealthy life with beer and unhealthy food. At the moment I am studying for half a year in Sweden, but being in another country and seeing it from another point of view really opened my eyes. Now I live so much more healthy and started doing sports 3 times a week with once a week bodybalance or yoga. I used to dance 5 times a week before I went to university, so now I really understand what I missed the last years. I feel so much better already!

You really inspired me and hopefully you can keep me motivated when I am back in the Netherlands!

Hi Laura! Thanks for sharing a little bit about yourself. Yes, your not the only one trying to find a balance. It’s really good that you started working out again, and keep on trying different things and see what works for you. You can follow me on instagram for some daily motivation 😀 xoxo
