Yola, the latest #FITGIRLCODE crew member

Fit & Training door thijs

Hi there!I am so excited to announce that from now on I am part of the #FITGIRLCODE crew! For all those wondering, who is this girl? Let me introduce myself.

My name is Yola, @yolaforthewin on Instagram, a 25 year old girl from The Netherlands, who is really into a healthy lifestyle. This means not only working out multiple times a week but also making sure I’m eating the right things. Other things I love to do: reading books, looooots of books and going out to dinner at my favorite Mexican restaurant. I’ve always been an animal lover. If I could I would stuff my whole house with cats. Too bad the boyfriend doesn’t agree with that...

When I was just a little girl I did a lot of gymnastics. I loved being upside down all the time and kept twisting and turning until I got dizzy. Thanks to this hobby I’ve always been quite athletic. Unfortunately I’m not that flexible anymore. But I still love to practice my handstands every now and then.

About a year and a half ago me and my boyfriend bought a house, which was a big step in my life. Since we had a few rooms left in the house that we didn’t use we thought it would be awesome to turn one of the rooms into a home gym. We already had a home trainer and we bought a crosstrainer to fill up the room. We had to build the crosstrainer ourselves, so that machine didn’t last very long ;). We also didn’t use it that much so I sold it and replaced it with some fitness mats, lots of weights, a barbell and a workout bench. After our ‘free weights zone’  was in place I came across the Insanity workout on the internet. This was something I wanted to try! I got my boyfriend to join me and we did it for over 90 days. In the beginning I really liked it. But in my second round I kind of overdid it so I don’t think I will hit play any time soon anymore :)

Fast forward to six months later. I started outgrowing my weights at home. So I started going to a real gym and trying out their free weights zone. About 99% of the people there were guys so it felt really (and I mean reaaaally) awkward at the beginning. But we are awesome and badass girls so I just told myself to get over it and lift that shit. As I got stronger and fitter I wanted to take it to the next level. That’s where I am today. Trying out different workouts such as bootcamps and CrossFit (in my new Reebok crossfit nano 4 shoes, which I love!!).

Since I’ve always had quite an interest in the human body, more specifically; how it’s build and how it works, I started something completely new. I decided to go back to school and become a fitness instructor. I’m not just learning about different fitness machines, I’m also learning about muscle groups, the effects different kinds of nutrients have on your body, to set a goal for my clients and how to get them to that goal most efficiently.

To keep myself motivated in my healthy lifestyle journey I became more active on Instagram. I quickly came across the #FITGIRLCODE page and really liked the spirit of girls motivating each other to be the best and happiest version of themselves. I noticed that people started to ask me questions about my workouts, body and food and that I was excited to answer all of them.

I got a message from Fit Girl Suzanne and we started chatting and now here I am, writing blogs with this big smile on my face. I am really looking forward to this fit journey I am going to take with you guys!

X
